The
words "Joseph Arthur" should be a household name. Just
ask Peter Gabriel, who launched his own Real World Records
with the release of Joseph Arthur's debut CD; or Michael
Stipe of R.E.M. who recently used one of Joseph's songs
as the only track on a Katrina
Fund Charity EP, re-recording
the track 5 times with different friends including Coldplay,
Justin Timberlake, and Joseph himself. Stipe also named
his In
the Sun Foundation after the track. "When I saw what
happened with Katrina, 'In the Sun' came to mind," explains
Stipe. "He writes from a very deep intuitive place."
While Arthur's records tend to be layered, heavily produced
efforts, his one-man band live performances
incorporate looping techniques and several distortion techniques.
Many people comment that his live performances, when performed
in this fashion, are in fact better than his studio recorded
material. In
2006, Arthur brings a band into his live show which
takes things to a different level. Regardless of whether
Joseph performs solo or with a band, the same effect is apparent.
Merging catchy melodies with deep introspecitve lyrics, he
somehow seems to strip your soul naked, silencing the audience
with jaws wide open. Joseph's music has the rare ability
to do this to an audience, something that very few musicians
can accomplish. Another reason why Arthur is a force
to be reckoned with.
We are very excited
to have been approached by Arthur's Management
to build a new web site for him, and even more pleased
to be making complete shows, past, present and future,
available for download at JosephArthur.com/downloads.
